Born in Cologne in 1995, he is a prizewinner of nine international competitions, including the Viotti, Ferrol, and CIPCE competitions. In addition, he has won 26 other prizes and distinctions at competitions such as Maria Canals, Hilton Head, and many others.
He began his musical studies at the age of twelve with Professor Sheila Arnold at the Pre-College of Cologne (HfMT Köln), before continuing his artistic development at the Musik-Akademie Basel with Claudio Martínez-Mehner and Zoltán Fejérvári. He then studied with Rena Shereshevskaya at the École Normale de Musique de Paris, who remains his mentor today.
Alongside his studies, Dominic Chamot has developed an international career. He has performed in 18 countries across four continents, in prestigious venues such as the Berlin and Cologne Philharmonies, the Musikverein in Vienna, and the Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona. He has appeared as a soloist with major European orchestras, including the WDR Sinfonieorchester, the ORF Radio-Symphonieorchester Wien, the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano, and the Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia, and has collaborated with conductors such as Jukka-Pekka Saraste, Cornelius Meister, David Marlow, among others.
Highlights of the 2025 season include recitals at the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris, the LFJ Festival in Tokyo, and the International Piano Festival of La Roque-d’Anthéron.
In 2026, he will join the faculty of the Haute École de Musique de Lausanne, becoming at the age of 30 the youngest piano professor in Switzerland.
Dominic Chamot is also highly sought after as a chamber musician. He is regularly invited to festivals such as Gstaad, Davos, the Schwetzingen Mozart Festival, and the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival. He frequently collaborates with musicians from leading Swiss orchestras (Zurich Tonhalle Orchestra, Lucerne Symphony Orchestra, Basel Symphony Orchestra, among others) and has recorded a duo CD with Sergio Pires, principal clarinet of the London Symphony Orchestra. Other chamber music partners include Kian Soltani and Sirena Huang.
Dominic Chamot is the recipient of scholarships awarded by numerous prestigious foundations, including the Jürgen Ponto Stiftung, Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben, Migros-Kulturprozent, Lieven Piano Foundation, Jmanuel und Evamaria Schenk Stiftung, August-Pickhardt Stiftung, Stiftung für junge Musiktalente Meggen, and the Kiefer Hablitzel Stiftung.
